For Designers

Drip dispersal provides cost effective and environmentally beneficial dispersal and re-use of wastewater into the ground.  By placing the wastewater higher to the ground surface than other dispersal methods, this system can easily allow for evaporation, plant uptake, and more effective soil and microbial treatment.

Drip Dispersal can be used at larger sites with water re-use as part of a ground water discharge permit issued by the Massachusetts DEP.  The policy issued allowing this can be found at http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/reuse.pdf.

Drip dispersal has been extensively studies in the university and field settings.  Results of many years of testing are summarized in a recent study by the United States EPA “Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems Manual” February 2002.  (See separate document that is the relevant section from this document).
